While researching it has been
suggested that a diet is balanced if we have all the nutrients in the Required
Dietary Allowance (R.D.A.) on a daily basis i.e. carbohydrates, fats, proteins,
vitamins, minerals, roughage. It has been suggested that fruits and vegetables
should be filling 50% of the meal as they are full of vitamins, minerals and
fibres. Proteins should be 25% of the plate, lean protein including eggs, nuts,
pulses, fish and chicken while the remaining 25% is of carbos. The components
of balanced diet, common results will include needing whole grains for energy,
calcium to build bones and healthy fats to maintain heart and brain healthy.
Keeping this in mind, a
motivational speech was delivered on balanced diet which gave us an unerring
information of the proper food habits.
